Isaiah 61:1b “He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.” I once had invited a noted speaker to come to the church I was serving to encourage our membership and do a Q & A with our leaders. After the even was over we were walking to the car, I noticed that he was humming some tune. It struck me that many speakers (me included) after the engagement will try to evaluate their time. All sorts of questions flood the mind. Did I engage the congregation? Were they with me? Did I meet expectations? (The list goes on.) But here this guy was humming, as if to be in a wonderful state of freedom. Then it struck me. His worth as a person was not on the line. He had genuinely tried to help people while he was speaking, and when he was done, he was done. He was not worried about what others thought, he gave his best. He was like a helium filled balloon that was released to the atmosphere. Once released its outcome was no longer the responsibility of the one who released it. He had given his best and it was finished. Thought: Do I worry/debate/become anxious with how people receive me/my thoughts? Prayer: Father God, Grant me Grace to walk in the freedom of Jesus. Jesus truly become LORD of my life in every area. In Jesus Name. Amen
