Ishq-e-Dilli...... Isqh In love e with Dilli ie. Delhi is the title of the show. It is a sound and light show at Purana Quila( Old Fort) which I had the pleasure of seeing with my friend Poonam Bahl. Words cannot(though I am fancying myself as a bit of a writer these days) describe the beauty , the sheer depth, the magic of the show. You were tranported to a different era and went from era to era strarting from the period of Prithvi Raj Chauhan to the time of Draupadi insulting Duruyodhan (Delhi was known as Hastinapur then) and sowing the seeds of the Mahabharat war, to the arrival of the Mughal kings and the good period of the Raj of the emperor Akbar.......this Ishq( love) of the Rajasthani princess Jodha, the sufi saint Nizamudin Aulia his sufi music and the dervishes dancing.....then Shah Jahan....his love for his wife Mumtaz and the building of The Taj Mahal. The Mughal period then goes into a decline with the rule of Aurangzeb. Then along comes the East India Company and the British Raj.....partituon of India....all the refugees come to Delhi. ...then the fight for Independence. ...Gandhi... Jinnah....and finally the city as it is with its Delhi Metro and high rises. The show is run by The Indian Tourisim Development Corporation, and its not really advertised properly so its running at a loss of nearly a lakh rupees per month! The tickets alone were only Rs 80 , and what you got was a goldmine!!
