Isis / ISIS In the typical form of her myth, Isis was born on the fouth intercalary day. She was the first daughter of Geb, god of the Earth, and Nut, goddess of the Sky. She married her brother, Osiris, with whom she conceived Horus. So, who is annoyed or concerned that a terror group appears to have taken the name of this great goddess? The Pagan Federation has asked that news organizations stop referring to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant militia by the acronym ISIS and use instead ISIL. The use of ISIS has the potential to form harmful or at least incorrect associations between jihadists and those who follow the goddess Isis. There could be unintended repercussions from the choice of this acronym.
