Islam being taught in public schools. Why? Look, I dont have a dog in this fight (coming from me, thats saying a lot :) ). I home schooled my 9 kids. But for a couple of decades now, liberals have thoroughly expunged EVERY Christian reference from the government school system. Prayer has been banned, even when offered by students, not during school hours. T-shirts, Bibles, jewelry and all sorts of Christian expression are forbidden. Christmas carols are not allowed to be sung. The word Christmas cannot be uttered. But a government school can teach the RELIGION of Islam in a public school, and parents are banned from the school for objecting to it! I refer of course to the viral story about the Marine whose daughter came home with an assignment to study and report on the Muslim religion. One section was Beliefs and Practices of Islam. Really? Would any teacher get away with such an assignment on Christianity in the name of history? The answer is NO!, for many have tried. The Separation of Church & State crowd is all about the suppression of the Christian religion, *not* about keeping religious teachings out of the government schools. Clearly.
