Islamic Relief Bangladesh distributes Ramadan food to 5,884 families -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB) distributed Ramadan food to 5884 families of 19 districts of Bangladesh from 25-27 June 2014. The objectives of Ramadan food distribution was to provide standard food to the marginal poor, female headed & orphan households, elderly people especially who are fasting during the holy Ramadan. Apart from this, sometimes in humanitarian aspect non-fasting choric poor and widows could include under this programme. The packet was distributed to the vulnerable grassroots poorest family with the support of local NGOs and community based organisations. The covering districts were chosen considering the poverty severity and natural disaster prone areas. The poor family was selected in participatory way with the active participation of the community in group-meeting who live under the poverty line with malnutrition.
