Islamists influence Disney to censor Alice in Arabia and to partner with Muslim screen writers for future productions. To send your email please closely read instructions at the end of the article. CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) has pressured Disney to cancel an ABC Family show titled Alice in Arabia. The program is about an American teen who is kidnapped by her Saudi Arabian extended family and must “find a way to return home while surviving life behind the veil.” The Hollywood Reporter reported in part: ABC Family is not moving forward with its drama pilot Alice in Arabia. The recently ordered pilot came under fire from Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization Council on American-Islamic Relations and after it was reported Friday it had obtained a script for the show, which is about an American teenage girl kidnapped by her extended royal Saudi Arabian family and forced to live with them. CAIR said earlier this week that it had asked ABC Family to meet with leaders in the Muslim community to discuss concerns about potential stereotyping in the pilot, and on Friday evening the network said it had nixed the pilot. “The current conversation surrounding our pilot was not what we had envisioned and is certainly not conducive to the creative process, so we’ve decided not to move forward with this project, an ABC Family spokesperson said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Council) has recruited Muslim screen writers in a partnership agreement with Disney/ABC Television Group. The MPAC web site states in part: MPAC is excited to announce it is partnering with Disney/ABC Television Group to offer a one-day TV screenwriters workshop this spring in order to identify and empower American Muslims who want to pursue a career in writing for series TV. This means the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), who has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and espouses the radical brand of Islam known as Wahhabism, will provide screenwriters for future productions by the Disney/ABC Television Group. CAIR’s March 19, 2014 letter to Disney/ABC stated in part: We are concerned that, given media references to the main character surviving life behind the veil, the pilot and any resulting series may engage in stereotyping that can lead to things like bullying of Muslim students, said CAIR-LA Executive Director Hussam Ayloush. We urge ABC Family Channel to meet with representatives of the Muslim and Arab-American communities to discuss this important issue. Disney/ABC Television clearly succumbed to Islamist censorship of the reality that many Muslim woman are just “surviving life behind the veil.” While Disney is extending warm welcomes to Islamists, The Walt Disney Company has slammed the door on Florida Family Association and traditional American enthusiasts. Suggested Email Content: I was very disappointed to learn that Disney bowed to the Council on American Islamic Relations’ demands by cancelling Alice in Arabia. I am also very troubled by ABC’s decision to partner with the Muslim Public Affairs Council to hire screen writers. Please don’t censor, whitewash or inaccurately portray Islamism in your productions. Additionally, given the access that ABC has handed Islamists, it is outrageous that Disney is blocking Florida Family Association emails. Please don’t forsake what made and makes America great.
