Isnt she pretty in pink.... For those of you that follow me you may notice this post take a different tone from those in the past. If you have ever loved someone aging and dealing dementia you may have some clue what Im going through now. I am stunned by how suddenly and dramatically these things can happen and how painful they can be. My beautiful grandmother is struggling to remain herself. She has always been my best friend and Im not sure who this is more difficult for. I am not entirely sure why Im sharing this other than the situation is changing so rapidly I think that putting it out there may help me work a few things out. When I returned to Florida two weeks ago a lifetime of change had happened. As I return to New York now, I am humbled to the vulnerability the we both are experiencing. I am terrified by what the next few weeks may hold as the situation has evolved in just the last 24 hrs. I am certain that this is the most difficult time in both of our lives. I am not sure where my strength has come from all these years, but I always thought it was her. Please forgive me if I keep these details private from this point forward.
