Isnt this just puff? 70 acres of Mina Salman (a former Royal Navy base) is leased to the US Navy, and can host Nimitz class aircraft carriers, the Khalifa regimes navylet is also based at Mina Salman. The RN itself describes the new facility as an HQ -- i.e. a glorified office, hardly a base. At 15 million (the RN say 6), isnt it just a cheapo PR way of giving symbolic support to HMGs Khalifa-state ally, rather than a serious reversal of Britains 1971 withdrawal from east of Suez?
