Israel !! Our 7th country of the World Travel. Israel was the most interesting, intriguing and captivating Religious and cultural experience. It is mostly like a Western country situated in the middle of several Eastern countries. Ask a local, which continent Israel belongs to, and the answer is a shrug, a head nod, or a mumble. In my opinion it is a tiny dot on the World map with its own unique identity. The culinary influence from all the interesting neighbors makes Israel a very interesting concoction of many yummy cuisines. In all our travels, Jerusalem was the only place where we were asked about our religious inclinations. We felt included and welcomed, but also like religious outsiders and out of place at times. Being religious Hindus did make us understand some part of it. We were welcomed by the most religious Jews who were curious about Hinduism and wanted to explain Judaism. We traveled through Jesuss life - Starting from his birthplace, to where we grew up to where he was crucified and ultimately touched Jesuss tomb. Spending 4 days in Jerusalem and witnessing the out of the World devotion to God was one of a kind experience. We drove through Israel, parallel to about 3 major international boundaries separated by barbed wired fences. We climbed mountains for beautiful sunset views, floated in the Dead sea, and marveled at the colorful marine life while snorkeling in the Red Sea. We were lucky to spend Sabbath (Friday Evening) with the families of our 2 beautiful friends who we met in Argentina. First day of Hanukkah was our last day in Israel. Our Israeli experience definitely re-enforced our sense of Religious Tolerance. Co-Exists !! #Israel #7thCountryRTW
