Israel claims to impose buffer-zone area along the entire border - TopicsExpress

Israel claims to impose buffer-zone area along the entire border of the Gaza Strip with Israel at land and sea for maintaining its security. In fact, it is to kill our agricultural economy Buffer-zone leaves 35% of our lands inaccessible or out of production, to terrorise us, to imprison and suffocate us and restrict our people in all possible sense. How can denying farmers their right to farm their land threaten their security? How can the fishermens fishing nets threaten the Israeli Navy that is spread 3 miles away along Gazas shore? Overall, Palestinians are totally prevented from accessing 85 per cent of the maritime areas they are entitled to according to the 1994 Gaza-Jericho Agreement which allows them to fish within 20 miles. Our fishermen and farmers have hugely suffered from the brutal practices of the Israeli Occupation forces, more intensively since this illegal and inhumane sea, land and air blockade was imposed against the Gaza Strip in 2007. As declared by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), ‘Israel’s enforcement of the buffer zone and frequent hostilities have resulted not only in civilian casualties and the destruction of civilian property but also in the impoverishment and displacement of numerous families.’ Taking into consideration that Israeli occupying forces use live ammunition against fishermen, farmers and rubble collectors, it can be concluded that the military acts in a manner that manifests extreme indifference to the value of human life. Certainly, Israel’s shooting at civilian Palestinians, especially when they are running away or hiding is not an accidental act. This happens almost on daily basis! Our farmers whose lands are close to buffer-zoe face this life threat all the time. Going to farm their lands is like going to a battle field. Israels brutality made it sound like that. Our Palestinian fishermen are targeted similarly. In their struggle to survive and given the depletion of areas near the shore, Palestinian fishermen often have little choice but to sail into no-go zones at the risk of being shot by the Israeli navy. Many incidents actually occurred outside the buffer zone, within the 3 NM. The Israeli navy surrounds Palestinian fishing boats in the sea, threatens the fishermen, confiscates their boats and nets and makes them swim towards warships where they are handcuffed and taken to Ashdod port in Israel. After being interrogated for hours or in some cases days, they are released at Erez crossing point and do not recover their boats or nets. In other cases, the Israeli occupying forces fire rockets and shoot bullets at the Palestinian boats at sea or on the shore in order to destroy them, thus preventing the fishermen from working. This lengthy post is to remind you of the daily suffering that our farmers and fishermen have to endure under this brutal occupation and blockade of our land, sea and air. It is also to express my grieve and anger over the injury of 3 people at an agricultural land last night in Gaza, including my brother Majed Abusalama. Let the voice of justice spread around the world. Share and call of actions. End the blockade of the Gaza Strip. Down with the Zionist entity. Boycott the Israeli Apartheid Regime.
