Israel ends the Gaza Siege Israels television news in Arabic (not on the Hebrew news) reported tonight that shipments of agricultural goods have been sent from Gaza to the West Bank. They announced that there will soon also be shipments of furniture manufactured in Gaza sent to the West Bank. This signals the end of a very big part of the siege on Gaza. The siege was never mainly about what went into Gaza, it was mainly about what went out of Gaza, or more accurately what did not go out of Gaza. The policy of isolation of Gaza seems to be coming to an end. Once again Israel has shown the Palestinians that the only way to get concessions from Israel is through the use of violence. Once again the government of Netanyahu has proven that it is an anti-peace government - not giving anything through negotiations and diplomacy, but awarding violence.
