Israel has been systematically trying to segment Palestinians living inside of Israel in an attempt to divide, exclude and create conflict. This, they would hope, will weaken our Palestinian Arab Identity as a discriminated against minority. In recent year, there has been a Christian religious leader that his name is not even worth mentioning, that has been advocating for loyalty of Christians in Israel, AKA mandatory military/national service like most Jews (excluding Orthodox). The claim was that Christians are Arab Speaking minority that is not, in fact, ethnically Arab. The reason why people would follow such claim is easy: you grow up being told you are not good enough, you are a class B citizen, you are an Arab, is there a worse group to belong to in Israel? I dont think so. So it is a good way to escape, for those who got under the pressure of Israeli society and propaganda factory against Palestinians, the natives of the land. The wave has caught up some (insignificant) momentum within the Arab Palestinian Christian minority in Israel. The momentum was sponsored by media and magnified due to immense support from Israeli government. Ministry of the interior in Israel has just passed a law to allow Christian families to change officially their ID from Arabic to Aramic, which is the ancient ethnic group descendant of Jesus Christ. To be honest I dont even know how to react to this in writing. Its ridiculous and pathetic. My hope is that our sense of unity, our Arabism, our Palestine, will unite us all, and not let us forget who we are, despite the immense attempts from our occupier, colonizer and oppressor. I am a proud Arab, my culture and language and values have been practiced by my grandfather, and his grandfather for hundreds of years. I truly and strongly will argue that Arabic is the most beautiful language in the world, and our culture is the most complex and magnificent, Palestine is my eternal love. Come and dare to tell me I am not an Arab !! you low, filthy rats.
