Israel is a modern, European country. It enjoys all the trappings and full monetary support of the Western, industrialized world. It has, courtesy of the United States, one of the top five strongest militaries in the world. Yet, some of its citizens feel the need to stand on top of hills and cheer on their world class military as they lay siege to Gaza, a place that is one of the most poverty stricken, isolated regions of the world, courtesy of Israel and Egypts blockade and an inept Islamist government. If some people think Israel is completely justified in its disproportionate response, fine. Others in Israel and in America have said Arabs are animals who only understand the language of blood. Lets just for the sake of a racist moment say all of that is true. Still, how anyone argue that dead children and blood-thirsty cheering crowds are good for the moral/ethical image of Israel around the world is beyond my understanding.
