Israel perhaps are in a very tight corner. The fact that Hamas calls for her elimination means that only the extinction of Israel can stop them from firing the rockets into Israel. It should not be forgotten that Israel had made many concessions in the past which brought peace between Israel and the PLO. However, with Hamas, only the extinction of Israel would satisfy them: a demand that is impossible to satisfy. Yet Israels response to Hamas rocket fires seems to inflame anti-Semitic sentiments round the globe. So realistically, what are Israels alternatives? Sit down and watch Hamas fire the rockets into Israeli territory, or is it possible for Israel to stem the tide of Hamas rockets without the heavy civilian causalities, considering that Hamas strategically locate its bases in dense residential areas? Or should Israelis obliterate themselves to satisfy Hamas? Surely that is the best alternative for peace, but which is utterly untenable These questions must occupy the minds of Israeli authorities right now. But history suggests Israel would aggressively pursue homeland security and ignore any other question in the meantime. But if you were the PM israel right now what would be your alternatives? And dont forget Israel had pulled out of Gaza in 2008 following a similar Hamas campaign and yet the conflict still rages on.
