Israeli authorities neglect 92 per cent of complaints made by citizens who are subjected to attacks by Jewish settlers, a report revealed yesterday. The report by the Palestinian Land Research Center (LRC) noted that the Israeli authorities close complaints without finding the perpetrators. According to the report, only 7.4 percent of investigation files led to indictments of Israeli civilians suspected of attacking Palestinians and their property. LRCs report was based on the findings reached by the Israeli human rights organisation Yesh Din (there is law). The human rights organisation monitored 1,045 complaints filed by Palestinians to the Israeli police from 2005 to 2014. The complaints included cases of shooting incidents, violent assault, stoning, arson, cutting down trees, attacks on animals, theft of agricultural produce, construction on privately-owned Palestinian land, threats, harassment, and other offences committed by Israeli civilians. LRC added that the way in which the Israeli police and judiciary bodies deal with complaints filed by Palestinians against acts of violence by settlers is marked by negligence, lack of professionalism, insufficient investigative actions, and failure to meet accepted investigation standards
