CROIX St. Croix Fire Chief Angel Torres, Sr. said last night that a three-day old operation to drain about 2,500 gallons of liquid propane from a malfunctioning delivery truck ended about 5 pm. And thirty minutes later, the truck was returned to its owner, Antilles Gas Corporation, for repairs.Torres said firefighters working at the scene completely drained the truck of all of the liquid propane making it safe for the vehicle to return to the Antilles Gas compound on Hess road. "With the tank completely emptied, we deemed it safe to remove it from the site in downtown Christiansted and begin to conclude the operations that began about 48 hours before on Monday evening. "We have given an all clear for police to lift the safety zone it had created a distance away from the truck. This also means that the two affected hotels and surrounding businesses can resume their normal operations. Also, traffic flow has been restored," Torres said.
