It Was Complicated I sat atop a cliff…overlooking a crowded beach Non-descript bodies rushed to and fro With dark, brooding complexities Eye-candy For fast and furious Erections Gushing Highly excitable tastes And motivations I could not see them Grief and rapture rippled through my torn heart Searching for a new start A new start for something better A start that screamed, “forget her.” “For Get Her!” My complicated world was caving in Could not comprehend the exit signs of fear Did not hear the warnings a broken heart gives When searching for a new start Waves of discontentment Endlessly lapping rocky shores Cascading over boulders as birds soar the heavens Water-claimed boundaries Respected the beaches aim To bound it true I listened to The gracious song of waters lapping Clapping…against that rocky shore I wanted more More of the soothing melodies That rode gentle breezes And sang their way into me Replacing the pain and grief of my misery Elemental songs sang to me …gave to me Precious moments of serenity I tried to share …tried to show her how much I care But it was complicated I wasn’t sated in my needs Didn’t think she’d believe my words were true Things I didn’t do Words I didn’t say That, probably, should have been done…and said Wasn’t truly cognizant of what I had Took chances with “The girl of my Dreams” And, every time, it seemed Sanity took hold of me There came another epiphany Or, was it just another hard on For things to go wrong Sabotaging my Happiness Again, I confess It was complicated My waiting and relating to other people’s sayings and datings While hoping it wasn’t just loathing, hating Their having something I was wanting, thinking What I had was Outdated. As I said, It’s complicated I looked out over mile after mile of rolling waves of greetings The ocean gave While trying to reach the shore The more I sat and stared Admired and glared At pictures Hallmark will someday share I realized Beauty is a thing worth sharing I began to see A new start (For me).
