It all started in 1982 when the Pope visited Nigeria for the first time and the then Vice President of Nigeria, Dr Alex Ekwueme welcomed him at the airport and did not kiss his ring(because he is not a Roman Catholic). At the Enugu airport, on his way to Onitsha, the Pope was once again welcomed by Mr. Jim Nwobodo, who once again did not kiss his ring and then the Pope summoned Cardinal Francis Arinze and asked him what was happening(Nwobodo is also not a Roman Catholic, as both Ekwueme and Nwobodo are all Anglicans). After the visit, the Cardinal was summoned to the Vatican and charged with the mandate of ensuring that the entire Igbo land is governed by Roman Catholics. Thus began the battle and vision to Roman Catholicize the entire Igbo race. It would be recalled that before the coming of Ngige, governance in Igbo land had been in the hands of Anglicans and this issue of religious marginalization never came up because Anglicans are by training, upbringing and conviction very accommodating thus the ceding of part of their land to the Romans when they came to Onitsha 28 years after the Anglicans. Today, that vision to capture Igbo land has materialized and a new vision to exterminate the Anglican Church is in the offing. Thus from Ngige to Peter Obi and now to Obiano, the plan to intimidate and frustrate the Anglicans is intensified. I pity Obiano! Others before him were complete politicians who knew how to cover their tracts while carrying out their assignments, albeit, covertly. Obiano is not a politician! He told me one and one that after retiring from the Bank, he took his family to America where he wanted to quietly spend his retirement years before Chief Victor Umeh & co started mounting pressure on him to come and take over from Peter Obi. And so, because of his poor political background and clearly lacking in political sagacity, he does things arbitrarily without thinking of the consequences and repercussions. I pity him. The recent stupid idea of demolishing a standing church structure will be the last straw that will break the camels back. He can pull down houses suspected to belong to kidnappers and go away with it. No wahala! He can pull down the permanent site of the Abada Traders Union and if they are stupid enough to let him go scotfree, no wahala! But in the Church of God, No Way! Some of us will keep shouting until............justice is seen to have been done. If there are elders around him, they better talk to him NOW before it becomes too late.
