It all started in last December. Rupkatha Noy was included among six films nominated for the FIPRESCI Award for Best Indian Film 2013. After the special screening in Bangalore International film festival, an European delegate, probably in his seventies with a flowing white beard and a boyish gleam in his eyes walked up to me, expressed his profound likeness for the film and concluded, “In Rupkatha Noy you made me travel from fantasy to reality. Hopefully, in your next film I will travel from reality to fantasy !” I was quite amused but his remark really struck me. Curiously, I had been toying with such a concept for quite some time. I wrote the script few years back, almost took the plunge couple of times and then left it shelved. Titled ‘Abby Sen’, it Is a time travel story which indeed starts off from reality and then takes a voyage to fantasy.
