It all started with Phil Hill. If by chance you dont know Phil Hill, look him up. Thats a name you really should know. When I was a kid, he would drive down from Santa Monica on New Years Day in a Big British Racing Green Blower Bentley and lead a group of classics on a drive through the winding and deserted roads of Orange County (it was a long time ago before the OC, the 22 Fwy and about an additional 6 million residents) and Jamboree was a twisty road that led only to the big Boy Scouts camp in the hills. Phil got older and the drive kind of petered out until about ten years ago when another group of enthusiasts got together to do the same thing. We meet up in Costa Mesa, drive down PCH through Newport then Laguna, and then we go through Santiago Canyon and then off to brunch somewhere in Huntington or Orange. We get ocean views, canyon scenery, twisty bits and then even once the fog burns off we get to see people sunning themselves in bikinis on the sand (but not today as its a chilly 61 degrees). We are now up to about 1500 classic cars and British cars represent a good chunk of that total. Here are some images from this morning and over the past few years.
