It appears that, as soon as research (any research, really) acquires a sociological note, it becomes limit- and endless: then we need to know about every individual, every external force acting on the individual, every individuals link to every other individual, and their interaction, and about the interaction of groups of individuals who, in some aspect, choose to act together. Before we have the complete picture, we, basically, cannot say anything at all. Every study, however, can immediately be criticised as being outdated, predicated, as it is, on loads of paper work and statistical analysis. A hopeless task. Knowledge increases doubt, as Goethe said.
