It appears to me that while Putin obviously won in Crimea he lost - TopicsExpress

It appears to me that while Putin obviously won in Crimea he lost in the long future.Russia is not USSR in its relative strenght. Ukraina is a watershed for Europe. The Europe is a divided continent again and both EU and USA will not do anything about it.It is too bad that the scepter of Munich Pact like Western appeasement had to betray Ukrainian people. It is now the fact that because of yellow bellied West the Ukrainians are left alone and West will -in fact-counsel them to accede to any demands that Russia will put at them.It remains to be seen if Ukraina has the will to defend itself without any concrete offer of help by West. That being said, the Russia lost the ability to influence the future in the rest of the world.Nobody is going to pay any attention to Russian interests in let say,Syria,Iran or anywhere in the rest of the world save-perhaps- Kazachstan or Uzbekistan. The West will do anything they want to do away from eastern Europe(Ukraina and Belorus.)They will do it with the glee and Russia will have absolutely no say.The West will make sure about that. The Russia will become the fortress Mother Russia, with no influence away from its borders. That is also fact of new Europe and the New World.Over the time, the Europe will lessen its dependency on Russia energy.Eventually,it will refuse to accept Russian energy at all or at very favorable monetary terms.Russians must understand this.Do they, though?
