It can be hard to be genuine. Our lives are full of pressure. - TopicsExpress

It can be hard to be genuine. Our lives are full of pressure. We read daily about the success of others on social media. And sometimes it seems like everyone has it together--except for me. We just want people to think were doing great! (even though were not). Do we find it easier to keep up the façade of normal life instead of being honest about the battles we are fighting? Unfortunately, even though it may seem to be the safest place, this is exactly what keeps us from having real, authentic relationships and help with our struggles. Jesus disciple John describes this very thing, saying that when we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and are not practicing the truth. When we say we have no sin we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. We may say everything is fine, but if inside we are falling apart, were actually living a lie. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another--and when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:6-10) Having authentic relationships with the people we love means were honest about what is going on in our lives. Thats real fellowship! And when we admit to others where weve gone wrong, God is able to forgive us and heal us at the deepest level. We benefit from being transparent and make it safe for others to open up and share honestly with us, too. Its worthwhile to break out free and stop hiding! You might like the person you really are. How can you commit to more authentic relationships this week?
