It didnt take a genius to see that this was going to happen. The safety net is very fragile for people who need help and to cut into one part of that net means that other parts must try to step up. The sledge hammer cut in November put incredible pressure on pantries and the food banks that help supply them. More pressure piled on with the cuts in unemployment insurance and, unfortunately a potentially killer blow to the system is still ahead if the farm bill cuts tens of billions of dollars more. We are all at risk if the safety net is torn away. That day is coming. Make no mistake.
