It doesnt take a Shetland pony long to cotton onto a food source lol...........after just one week here Shadow has got the feed timetable worked out. This morning as I left the feed shed and walked up to the paddock, through the mist I saw Paris standing side on at the gate with Wally staring at me over the fence and nickering a little further down - all very normal - except that on the far side of Paris little Shadow was pawing the ground as though she was counting if that breakfast isnt here by the time I get to 10 lol, what she hasnt realised though is that she gets a bucket of scrap hay with an apple and a handful of chaff, simply to keep her away from the chaff mix and pellets that the big horses get ;) Small pony + no work+ plenty of grazing = no need for hard feed unless you want to suddenly get to know your vet and farrier much better and support their childrens education lol
