It feels like its broken. Its swollen! Black and blue! I have no doubt that my toe is broken. This morning as I limped around the house getting ready for church, I considered taking a cane or not going to church at all. I couldnt wimp out though considering my daughter had broken her toe while in marching band and marched their whole routine at a competition with her broken toe. The doctors just told us that all we can do is tape it to the toe next to it and let it heal. With a little limp this morning I had people asking what had happened. The short answer was that I broke my toe but that didnt satisfy Joyce Cox Whitt. She wanted to hear the whole story and told me that she would wait to read about it on Facebook. I hadnt intended on embarressing myself yet again but I will tell this story for you Joyce. We were all in the pool enjoying a Saturday afternoon with the family. I had made sure to tell the grandkids to go to the bathroom before they went out but failed to heed my own advice. It didnt take long before I had to make my way out of the pool to head to the house. I walked slowly towards the house trying to dry off some so I didnt leave a water trail through the kitchen, plus I didnt want to let the grandkids know that I hadnt done what I told them to do. When I rounded the corner of the garage I put on a little speed to make sure I got there in time. With three bathrooms in the house I was sprinting for the closest one. Rushing to the bathroom through the laundry room, our new puppy, Buttercup, jumped out from under the kitchen table and playfully ran with me. She is quicker than I am and got ahead of me. I was trying to avoid tripping over her as I ran, sidestepping slightly left. It was just enough to slam my left pinky toe into the edge of the bathroom door. In the midst of the pain, I was still trying to not step on Buttercup as I hopped the last three feet on my right foot to the toilet. Luckily one of the grandkids had again forgotten to close the lid because I needed the extra time. Wet bathing suits are hard to get off quickly. YES, I made it, but thats how I broke my toe Joyce.
