It felt so good when Laila Tyabji dropped in at the store just for a few minutes before she rushed to her meeting at Crafts Council… Took me back to the days when Dastkar office was just a stone’s throw away, and we used to bump into each other quite often. Back in 1998 when I first moved my studio to Shahpurjat, Dastkar was the main attraction.. And when Puneet and I launched Alter Ego in 2001, Laila was always there to encourage us with her feedback from time to time.. Many a times, we have counted on her experienced views when faced with setbacks… I was so happy when she bought a couple of saris from my first Maheshwari collection back then.. And then a few more over the years… Some days when I would be least expecting it, there would be a message or an encouraging mail from her about the compliments she received when she wore one of my designs.. That would really charge me up to push myself even further.. These are some of the moments when I feel so fortunate.. Thanks Laila, for being there – always an inspiration, brimming with warmth, affection and beauty...
