It happened on 16 Jan 1942. The last Cavalry charge of the US Army took place on this day in the village of Morong on the Bataan peninsula in the Philippines. Second Lt. Edwin Ramsey led 27 members of G-Troop 26 US Cavalry against Japanese infantry supported by tanks. The attack was successful providing a delaying action so the Army could pull back to a better position. Ramsey then proceeded to take to the hills and raise a 40,000 man guerrilla army and harass the Japanese for 3 years. After WWWII his name was a household word. True story.
