It happened to me. I was driving down the road and an unmarked car tried to stop me. I offered no resistance-gave over all of my papers. I had several traffic tickets which had not been paid--they were the garden variety of driving over the limit slightly. One was given when I was taking a child to the hospital. Another was similar, I think it was for not having a valid registration in a speed trap because I had a leased car and the new registration had been sent to Florida to the leasing company and I was waiting 24 hours for the mail to be forwarded. In New York, tickets are EXPENSIVE. It took a while for me to save the money to pay and I always take care to try to not ever get any as they are expensive. Regardless, the sadistic cop tortured me for over 45 minutes until I could get a call in to a lawyer who told them to stop. I went straight to the emergency room from the police station where I was told that I might have nerve damage. If you met me today, I could show you the veins that were damaged in my arm. I had had a previous concussion less than 90 days before this from a freight elevator in a commercial loft where I had our business in NYC-so I had secondary damage from this incident. It took two years for me to recover because of this assault--I had been on the verge of recovery from the accident until this happened. At first, the local lawyer I paid ---yes--the going rate of $4,000 PLUS the hundreds of trumped up tickets they gave me---first said that he would sue the police but then backed down under pressure from the PBA--policemens union. I could not get a lawyer to help me. That is why I can freely tell the world what happened. I have experienced the violence of police firsthand. I am not a criminal--I am simply a mom and a businesswoman who is very conservative and very conventional. Routine types of tickets are criminalized in New York State--not NYC--but upstate. This is why out taxes are so outrageous. It is a corruption of a sort against the public interest and upheld by all politicians--every one. So they find that the police are a special class of criminal gang who can destroy anyone they target. Normally they use this sort of targeting to attack criminals but if you raise any questions or if there is a policeman anywhere who decides he doesnt like you, or maybe you point out some corruption or crime that is going on, or maybe just because they feel like it, you will be tracked and targeted. Made easier since 911!
