It happens that, upon occasion, an old picture which is hanging upon a wall begins emitting annoying vibrations. An unwelcome, papery buzzing if one can imagine it; a regularly irregular noise, estranged from all that might comfort or inform... that does not cease and underlies the atmosphere. Sometimes it takes a while for me to realize that this phenomenon has begun anew, but when I do, as I have learned from some few such previous encounters, I rise, triangulate, and simply nudge the picture slightly, separating it from the sticky relationship it had acquired with the wall and this act of liberation ends the demonstration as, in silence now, its sources return to subtle anonymity. { As I reflect upon this I am reminded somewhat of our purported intelligence. How the frame is want to get stuck to the paint. How the image is forgot, and noisome noises thus ensue, in full neglect of context, in dire neglect of any semblance of verity or, indeed, humanity. But who, detecting the simple source of the problem, can rise from without and unstick the bloody record/frame/report? }
