It has become apparent that I have to address something quite sensitive this weekend. Those of you who have been here for a while know who I am. I try to say things nicely, if I can. I love everybody, even if I do not necessary like everyone. I also try to be as diplomatic as possible, always seeking to be a peacekeeper in our conversations. Unfortunately, sometimes, I do fail. I am human. I try really hard, but Im not perfect. As a freethinker, my thoughts are not molded by what others tell me; but, rather, by what my heart tells me is right. Having said all of this...It is Memorial Day weekend. My daddy is a Vietnam Vet. My maternal Grandfather Mason was both in the Navy and the Air Force, and many of my cousins are right now on active duty. Many who are dear to me have served in various branches of the armed forces, including but not limited to Vaughn Marshall, Ernie Guerra, Robert Burchett, Michael Spragg, and Jordan Helms. Yes, I am a humanitarian and, no, I do not agree with war; but, those who have served, served with their hearts, souls, sweat, blood and tears in the name of protecting us. Thats where their hearts were when they enlisted in the armed forces...I know that many of you whom are involved in peace activism see this from a completely different perspective. However, I am asking you to ask yourself these questions: Are you helping anything by belittling these guys who suffer a great deal for having served? Are the memes I have posted today in their honor hurting anything? Do you also work for their best interest? Do you seek to ensure that they have the resources they need, when they come home, to recover from the hell theyve seen? If not, please add that to your list or at least send up a prayer or two for them; because many of these people have seen a hell far greater than most can even imagine...Just my two cents; and I do still love you ALL. I have put forth great effort to understand both sides of this coin and this is my stance, take it or leave it...We are ALL in this together. Lets find a way out!
