It has become readily apparent that two groups of people who Know better than you are pushing for and against CC (Common Core). It reminds me a lot of the global warming debate. Based on the tiny snippets of CC instructional material I have seen, which pray Dear Lord are skewed, in general, I have found no significant reason why our children should be taken down the CC path. More importantly, what will it do to our country if CC is a total bust? Instead of raising a generation of idiots like we usually do, what if CC produces a generation of utterly total useless idiots. The stakes are very high folks. An entire generation could be lost. We have some very high minded folks who seemingly want to change things for the sake of changing things. I have lost faith that the intellectuals among us are fit to lead. While education of our children today probably could be improved I feel pretty good that the direction of the push, i.e. CC, is totally in the wrong direction. Give me a push in the direction of responsible parental stewardship of their children. Morality in terms of parental caring for children. Mothers and FATHERS, raising their kids and sticking together as a family unit! That would make me happy and would produce positive results across the board.
