It has been 1 month since I had my spinal surgery (minimally evasive). My lower spine looks like a piece of zipper! It has been a difficult recovery. Nothing bad mind you, no infection, or falls (so far), I am just bored. I have never been one to sit or lay around except when I was sick. It is difficult to not do what I or anyone does on a normal basis, such as: vacuum, walk the boys (building up to that), grocery shop...taking out the trash, which can be included as part of my laps, takes all of my energy. I have been following my instructions of no bending, twisting and lifting. I have no energy whatsoever. I feel bad for Nathan. He works a mentally HARD job and then has to do everything that I did. I do see the light at a very, very long tunnel. I am weaning off of the walker, mostly in the apt, the use of medications is slowly being spread out. I am getting stronger and will begin therapy in a month or so. The nerves in my back are calming down, so to speak. I went several hours Saturday without my brace because it needed washed. Oh I paid for it. I am allowed to wean off of it, but next time it gets washed, I will be less mobile. Haha! The light at the end of this several years long will be when I can finally return to work! I will be so very thankful when that day comes. Mind you, I am totally thankful for being able to get things fixed. I will be able to convey, first hand experience to my patients. I will be able to helped them beyond the training I received to become a nurse! To close, I LOVE and MISS being a nurse. I may never become/obtain my RN, though a disappointment, its OK. Being able to touch the lives of those I come in contact with as an LPN, is still a dream come true.
