It has been 5 years since the Brain Injury Association of Prince - TopicsExpress

It has been 5 years since the Brain Injury Association of Prince Edward Island was last started. We started out calling ourselves a Coalition an that was changed to Association. Our work involves prevention, education and awareness. We work at promoting helmet use in wheeled activities, more bicycles than anything. We promote concussion awareness. We partnered with the City of Charlottetown and the Province, creating posters on concussion awareness and rack cards and distributed them throughout the city and across the province. We provide Support groups for survivors and family members as well as a monthly community meeting. There will be starting back up in Sept. We provide education sessions on brain injury to groups wishing to learn more about brain injury. Lat school year we provided an education session to the Practical Nursing students at Holland College, As well in 2009 we provide a 2 day workshop to those in the health care field We are also able to maintain office space at 81 Prince St. We do not receive any funding from government so most of this work is carried out by dedicated volunteers. Any funding that we do have is from donation from businesses or individuals in the community and we are very grateful for your support. With all the work that has been done so far by volunteers we hope that government sees the need to provide more services to brain injury survivors and their family. If you are interested in making a donation our mailing address is: Brain Injury Association of Prince Edward Island 81 Prince St. Suite 5 Charlottetown, PE C1A 4R3 by visiting our website at biapei/ or by call 902-314-4228 We look forward to the next 5 years
