It has been a busy few days. I was not feeling all that well - TopicsExpress

It has been a busy few days. I was not feeling all that well yesterday so everything went very slowly (same on Friday), but am feeling a bit better today. I guess it is one of those colds that are going around. I have to say a big thank you to my friend John. He came out to the farm today and raked out all the release cages, got rid of the ants that had moved into them and put down fresh mulch. This means I can start putting squirrels into the cages this week! Yesterday I cleaned out the rest of the weaning cages and tomorrow I plan to move two more groups out there. They are really wilding up fast and biting my fingers. I have a bite on every finger on my left hand except my middle finger. They are ready to move up to the next level to be certain. Then I will move the older groups into the release cages so that I can get those cages ready for the next group to wean. An update on the bigger boy that came in after being hit by a car. He still sleeps much of the time and will do circles but today when I was giving him some formula, he seemed to come to and acted like a perfectly normal squirrel for a bit before going back into his sleep mode. That gives me hope that he will eventually improve to where maybe he will be normal. Only time will tell. Eddie has really started to come around the past week. He had stayed very small and I had to struggle to get formula into him, but all at once he is eating like crazy and starting to grow. He is such a wobbly fellow but he does not stop for a moment. He is way too cute for words. All the others are doing well and growing nicely. Although we do see the eye issue with the one girl the others in her group have no other issues similar so I do think it was an injury from when she feel (or possibly glaucoma). Remember only a few more days to get your donations in to be eligible to be the possible new owner of that fabulous nest box from Nuts About Squirrels! If you wish to donate for every $5 donated your name is written down to be the possible new owner. The easiest way to donate is through our paypal link at squirrellady.org.
