It has been a long 24 hours, finding my mother fell on her own drive way in the cold last night after midnight because she had the urge to go get her mail. She was lucky because she had her phone and was coherent enough to call for help because she could not get back up. Rush over to her house in 15 minutes and got her back in her home. Her timing was good because I was just driving home at that time frame. I will never be able to erase the image of her all alone sitting in her drive way in the cold and winter darkness. Because of her pain we took her to the hospital and discovered she had broke her hip. The doctor performed surgery at noon and she was back in recovery room in mid afternoon. Now our whole family is taking turn to sit with her all day to make sure she is o.k. It helps with the nursing staffs with any language barrier in case there is any surprises. Still went to my morning meeting and did my presentation with the Homeless Task force. Did not feel good about my presentation because of all the stress I was going through. Then did my runs and sat with her after surgery. My sisters took turns to sit with her while I worked and now back here sitting with her in the room while she rest. There are moments in life that I will never trade. The opportunity to be able to sit by my mother while she rest would be one. Thank You God!
