It has been a trying day and a half. But, just when its darkest, there is always a ray of light. We put the car in the shop last night, and I called them this morning to make sure they had picked it up from off the side of the road. They had, but they had not got to looking at it. He quoted me around $1300 for a new transmission. This was NOT good news. He DID say, however that until he looked at it, there was no need to start panhandling and selling kidneys, JUST yet. So, I went to work and with a fretful state of mind, started riding. I got two rides into my day, when it blew up a real pisser of a storm. So, I stripped my horse, put them in the trailer, loaded my gear and then myself. It promptly STOPPED raining. UGH! I just said to hell with it and headed for the barn. It was on my way back to town that I got the call from the mechanic. When I asked him if itd ever play piano again, he snorted. Then he told me it was FIXED! All hed had to do was UNPLUG the offending switch on the torque converter, and it was good to go! $60 was the total bill. $40 for a tow, and $20 for the labor. WOOT!!! We have a car again! He assured me that this would fix the problem of it choking itself out at a stop sign, and it was now good to go. He said the tranny was old, and a bit weak, but still very functional. Im tellin ya folks. God is good.
