It has been a while since I went to the OP Farmers Market, but did stop in today - parked on the south side of the pavilion - bought a two dollar cookie and a three dollar loaf of caramel apple pecan bread. The cookie I ate on the spot, but the bread did make it home. When I departed I left by way of OP Drive, which is blocked so you can only go south. I was very surprised and somewhat saddened to discover that the beautiful artwork mural on the west wall of the birdhouse store had been painted over, back to the generic beige color all of the backs of the buildings there are. I was fortunate to have taken pictures of the mural when it was there and I will post them here for remembrance. I have long advocated the changing of the name of that portion of OP Drive to Market Street, the installation of arches at each end, (similar to the arches at KCs City Market) and the painting of murals by the high school art departments on the backs of those buildings. As it is, it just looks like what it is and always has been - an alley - It certainly could be made more attractive and that might be attractive of more people. Maybe someday....
