It has been a year since Missee (real name now Mistletoe - TopicsExpress

It has been a year since Missee (real name now Mistletoe originally Molly) came running, barking and kissing into our home and hearts. Im not sure how many of you know Missees story so I will share it now. A rescue (any type of dog) got a Facebook msg about a lady who had a pug (Missee) locked in a crate in the basement. Away from people and forgotten. They think it had been many months she was living in this hell hole. They forgot to feed her and she wasnt taken outside to potty.* Remember much if this is what we heard or surmise from her appearance and the vet. The vet says she probably wouldnt have lived much longer if the person on Facebook hadnt asked about the dog they had a while back. So back to fb-the rescue said they would definitely take the dog. So at the end of November in the cold the rescue met the lady (I use that term loosely) in the evening and she handed over this little 2 year old girl who was wet (from a recent bath but was still dirty) and starved almost to death. They rushed her to the vet who looked her over and drew blood. Slowly she gained weight (I believe she was 6.8 lbs at the first vet check) and she was shown love and could stretch out her little body and lay where ever she wanted. Well the foster mom took her into a store mid December and my sister saw her. She found out she was being fostered until her forever home could be found. My sister sent me a picture of her and I was in love. Spoke to my husband who told me to get all info I could about her and we could talk about adding her to the family. Spoke to her foster mom and learned all I could from her. Needless to say we wanted her if the dogs seemed to get along. The next day I met her at the store and saw how spunky she was. We set up a home visit for the weekend. The rescue came with Missee to our home and watched how she was with Kamee (our poodle mix who just passed in July) and Zoee our other pug. It went great. They asked if we wanted her and we said yes. They let us temporary foster her to make sure the other dogs and her would get along. A year later after the home check she is still a energetic happy high energy girl who weighs 16.8 lbs. Yes over double what the weight was when she was saved. We still have issues with her mainly she wont go potty outside unless she is taken for a walk, she is a escape artist so our home has gates on the porch so if she gets past me she cant go far (that is another story) and she barks....A LOT. I say issues but I am happy to deal with them because she is my buddy. She is always near by and hates to not be in the middle of everything. I adore her and am so happy I can say that she is in her forever home! In the comments I will share the awful picture of her at the vet The day she was saved!
