It has been another one of those special days in my life. Its my beautiful moms 78th birthday!! What an amazing woman she is. Came to this country from Guadalajara Mexico when she was 15 yrs old, didnt speak any english. She met and fell in love with my dad when she was 16, married him when she was 18. She was a stay at home mom to 5 kids. She learned to speak, read and write english by sitting in elementary grade classes. She had a 10th grade education. She waited to go back to school when her youngest child was a senior in high school. She had done her duties as a mom and it was her time to follow her dream to become a registered nurse. She accomplished that goal and was one of the most admired and respected nurses at the hospital in Murfreesboro Tn where she worked on the OBGYN and post partum floor for over 25 yrs. She received the prestigious award of Nurse of the Year for the state of Tennessee. She has a zeal and zest for life like no one I have ever met. She has had her share of heartbreak and devastation from tragic losses of her youngest son, youngest daughter, granddaughter, grandson and the love of her life, my dad. I admire and love my mom so much. She never meets a stranger and people are better for having been around her. She inspires me every day and has always been my biggest cheerleader and encourager. Happy Birthday Maria James, my mom, my friend!!!
