It has been brought to my attention that I have not given much detail on the hopitals plans and Lindsey. My bad! There is always planning to be done for future events and I always feel the information given me is vague and uncertain and constantly changing. Here is what I know: The rehab here is one big test so that a plan can be made for returning to home. Speech therapy is a lot more than just speech. They test for the skills she will need for school and work. Occupational Therapy covers skills she will need at home and life. Physical therapy is helping her regain her balance, strength and range of motion. Lindsey is much like she was before the incident minus her weight, stength, hair and endurance. All of which can be regained. Her intellect, personality and knowledge are all the same, which is great - those are harder to regain. There are people her age here on this floor with the same scar that she has but they are not even close to being back to a level at which Lindsey is functioning. The one change that may or may not be permanent is she has lost her sweet tooth. But today she did dive into some quality DeBrands chocolates that were brought to her by a friend and loved them. Apparently quality sweets are still appreciated. A portion of the youth group came and had a Bible study with her today. It is a step forward that needed to be made, to get her used to seeing people again. She is a bit shy about reentering the real world, yet she misses her friends and her normal routine.
