It has been great to work with the Old Fairbridgians Association (OFA) in the ongoing development of the Old Fairbridgians Grant & Loan Fund. The Fund was established in 1983 for the relief of Old Fairbridgians whose personal circumstances have led them to be disadvantaged through misfortune, poverty, disability or a sense of distress or helplessness. For the last 12 months the OFA and Fairbridge have worked together to establish a Terms of Reference for the Trustees group to provide further clarity as to how the funds, although minimal each year, will be dispersed to Old Fairbridgians in need. The Board of Fairbridge have also agreed with the recommendation of the OFA representatives to set up a process to enable the Fund to grow to support the needs of an aging population of Old Fairbridgians. While Fairbridge Western Australia Inc. did not have any thing to do with Child Migration they have been given the responsibility as per the Trust requirements to manage the disbursement of the revenue from the Fund. Engagement of the OFA is critical to this process so the OFA have representatives appointed as Trustees of the Fund. Further to this the OFA Committee will be involved in supporting Old Fairbridgians in accessing the Fund as they have done since the Fund was established. We want to acknowledge the OFA and thank them for their wisdom and guidance in ensuring the operation of the Fund will meet the needs of Old Fairbridgians who came to Fairbridge Village, if only in a small way, now and into the future.
