It has been nearly 14 months since an outstanding 18 year old Twin Cedars high school student, Derek Springer, was.tragically killed in an accident. Now known as Twin Cedars Angel in the Outfield was a stand-up student with a promising future. His legacy lives on through his identical twin brother, Dylan Springer. Without a doubt, Derek Springer was the driving force that led the the Twin Cedars Sabers baseball team to a 36-0 season and ultimately winning the Iowa 1A state championship in high school baseball. Now the untold story stemming from the tragic death of Twin Cedars Angel in the Outfield. Besides his twin brother, Derek also left behind his 7 year old little brother, Brian. Brian was wrongfully removed from his mothers care based solely off of false allegations made by Dereks abusive and estranged stepfather two days following the funeral service in June 2013. Dereks mother was a single parent to Derek and Dylan for the first 8 years of their lives. In 2005, they learned that they were going to be having a new baby brother at which time their mother married a man that, in time became physically, mentally & emotionally abusive to their mother and their little brother. Derek and Dylan witnessed this ongoing abuse, but due to the nurturing and stable environment that their mother had brought them up in the first eight years of their lives gave them the strength and morals needed to develop into fine, upstanding young men. Brian has yet to be returned to his mother. Initially it was false reports brought forth by Brians father but as time went on, Brians paternal grandparents started, and continue to, make outlandish false reports to The DHS. Brian was a very happy and healthy child in June of 2013. He is currently in the 95th percentile on the growth chart. At the time of Dereks death he was at 55 percent. He continues to have ongoing problems with his development due to wearing shoes that became too small due to his rapid weight gain shortly after he was removed from his mothers care. despite numerous verbal concerns made by his mom concerning this child. Department of Human Services would claim that this mother was only trying to make the father and the Paternal Grand parents Look bad. If the DHS would have investigated the false reports, they would have found substantial overwhelming evidence supporting the mothers credibility. The mother wanted to Appeal this case from day one but due to chaos and confusion brought on by Dereks untimely death and dishonorable and dishonest DHS workers it never happened. Last week, the judge ruled in favor of this abusive man to have sole custody of this defenseless little boy. This man has somehow convinced the department of human services that this mother, who raised two successful young men on her own ...is the monster that he is. Please pray for the family of theAngel in the field but most of all for a little boy that has been wrongfully removed from a mother that has proven her abilities of rearing children who developed into upstanding citizens.
