It has been three months now since Leonardo and I met with the Orthopedic Specialists at Ohio State University Veterinary Center. At that time it was determined that Leonardo is not a candidate for hip replacement surgery given the extent of damage the spider bite caused to the femur. At that time, the Specialists mapped out a treatment plan for him; a plan I thought was more than a tad unattainable. Well, here we are 3 months later and Leonardo has lost all 15# that the Drs. recommended. He has been through rehab 2X a week doing an underwater treadmill for 40 minutes follow by laser therapy, is walked the other 5 days. He has built up muscle tone that amazes the rehab vet specialist at Blue Pearl here in Louisville where he goes for rehab, and can move every bit as beautifully as he did when he was in the conformation ring. He is also in nose work classes and excelling. We have met and exceeded every one of the goals set out for Leonardo by the Specialists at OSU. Leonardo is now able to walk, run, jump, and play pain free. He is a clown who thinks its his job to entertain the world and I love him more than I dreamed possible 3 short months ago. Leonardo I am SO PROUD OF YOU!!!
