It has come to my attention that a certain person(s) asked for my previous post to be taken down regarding the Medical Co Response Program because they felt I was personally attacking their character... I would like to point out these kinds of actions are called POLITICAL INTERFERENCE and a way to distract people from an opposing point of view to their own. Before voting on any polls please wait to read the paper this week and also read what was previously posted by council in the paper... Please read the letter from Alberta Health Services confirming the lower level of training our firefighters will now have and the lack of previous training they will be able to utilize. I would like people to understand that even when more firefighters do show up to a scene that are not needed at and stood down, it is not as costly as a person would think. To run this entire program costs 13000-15000 a year. This is the number council themselves gave to me in the presence of CAO Kelly Bunn. I would rather have too many people show up to save my two year olds life than not enough.. There are no full time positions at the fire department soley for the MCR program. For all services including MCR the fire department has been running successfully with three full time firefighters for an extended period of time. There would be no more hires specifically for the MCR program. I urge you to do the research as I have to understand these changes for yourselves and to find out why. Unfortunately the front liners that could explain this better to all of us have been made not to speak to the public because of code of ethics.. So why not call and write letters to Mayor Tom Tarpey asking him to give written permission for these firefighters to speak on how they feel about this program without having employment repercussions? He is the only one who can do this. I will also recomment on the threats I have received because of the current petition to fully reinstate this life saving program. I will not shut my mouth and stop shedding light on this mistake these consequences you threaten are both ludicrous and unfounded. I should not be afraid to help educate people on the very things that keep them and their families safe. Dons barber shop will have a copy of this petition to fully reinstate the program. You may also contact me as I will be mobile around town with it. At the end of the day remember your family deserves the best and while other councils are upping their levels of service in their departments for the better safety of their residents peace River is lessening theirs however unintentional it may have been. February 2, 2015 at the Peace River Town Building at 5pm there will be a meeting where this will be discussed. Come and show your support of this program! We should do what we can to better our access to medical care not downgrade them.
