It has come to our attention that KS Wild (KS Wild - an environmentalist group in the southern Oregon and Northern California areas.) believes that the current state of our local Oregon and Northern California forests are in jeopardy due to current practices of the BLM and logging industry? After reading the posts about these concerns, it is very apparent that KS Wild needs to do additional research and fact finding in order to convey any type of message clearly and with some level of intelligence. Firstly, in your first post about the logging of old growth trees, you show a photograph of a tree that is no more than 100-200 years old, yet you reference that the BLM is cutting trees which are 300+ years old. Perhaps you should count the markers in the photo? Additionally, dendrochronology is not the only way that trees can be aged. As we know, a trees rings can be affected by a number of conditions annually. Weather conditions, soil conditions, and other factors may lead to multiple rings, or no rings, being produced in a specific year. Perhaps your arguments could be won if you took the time to get your information checked. kswild.org/get-involved/ActionAlerts/blm-stop-logging-300-year-old-trees
