It has come to the band’s notice that past member Roy Ashton died last week aged 80. A Brighouse resident all his life Roy became a member of B&R for three years in 1964, firstly playing 2nd Baritone then moving on to Eb Bass, having previously spent many years playing with Clifton & Lightcliffe Band and then Linthwaite Silver. Roy, a valuable member of the band with an extra duty as transport secretary, returned to B&R in 1976 for a further year before played again on Eb Bass with the Lindley Band. The funeral will take place at Park Wood Crematorium, Elland on Tuesday 24th June at 11.15 am.
