It has taken almost one year of very hard work to finally get to this point. Josh is nervous. Ive finally been able to let go a bit and relax. I come to all of you and thank you for all of your support and words of encouragement through all of this. I will be posting in this group often while in Dallas. I am hopeful you all will continue with the prayers, love and support for Josh. We are less then two weeks away from the 24th. the day he gets admitted into Scottish rite hospital. The first day, he will be fitted for his halo device. The wheelchair and walker and halo itself. The 25 (early) he will be in surgery to have the halo screwed into his skull and the therapy begins. He will be spending most of his time in a wheel chair during the day and some of the time outside of the chair in a walker. (Both of these things have constant traction attached to the halo around his head. ) it is a long process but one that is effective with his condition(NF1) and his type of scoliosis(Neuro). He will wear this for at least 2-3 months. If it takes well and he is ready in Sept they will remove the halo and do surgery the same day. putting bolts, pins and screws and plates with the rods in his back to hold it in place. This particular procedure and therapy has proven to be the best for Joshs NF1 etc. This is why we chose Dallas Texas for the scoliosis and a team of NF specialists in Houston at MD Anderson. So many people have so many questions so I am informing through this post and hope it gets to most of you with questions. The truth is: Dallas may take longer depending on how quickly and effective the traction works for Josh. This is a tremendous trial for our family. I wish there was two of me...one for Dallas, and one for Mesa. But right now. I am putting my efforts into this little guy. I am very thankful for good friends and family who keep on helping and loving us. And for an amazing God who gives us hope, strength and love. Because of him, Josh has a great chance and because of him, I have the endurance to help Josh along through this. Thank you all again. Much love from Josh and I, Kristen
