It has taken me awhile to post this. I have not wanted to face the tragedy of Valour passing away suddenly on Thursday. We all worked so hard to bring her story of pain and starvation. From Cross Lake, we would have never known if it was not for a kind woman that was compelled to send her picture to us seeking help. From keeping her warm, getting food, a kennel up to Cross Lake, driving kennels to the airport, and working with Manitoba Underdogs Rescue to bring her here. It absolutely breaks my heart that she tragically left this world. She was loved terribly by her Foster Parents and was showing incredible progress. Good bye Valour. You were loved by many and left your Paw print on our Hearts... ~~ Debra Below is the post and comments from the Rescue: It is with shattered hearts that tonight we announce the loss of Valour. Her treatment for mange had been going very well, and the outlook was great. Suddenly this afternoon, Valour went into respiratory distress and was rushed to Selkirk Animal Hospital by her foster parents. The clinic attempted to stabilize Valour, but sadly it was not enough. Valour was helped over to Rainbow Bridge, comforted by her loving foster family and clinic staff. A necropsy will be performed to hopefully find some answers. Our hearts go out to her foster family, Karen and Herb, who treated this young puppy like gold. Their hearts and souls go into fostering and caring for any animals that come through their door. Thank you to Dr. Sletmoen and the rest of the staff at Selkirk Animal Hospital for trying their very best to save Valour. Thank you again to Dakota Veterinary Hospital for also caring for Valour and making her comfortable during her short stay with MUR. To our incredible supporters who donated to Valour’s care, the remaining funds will be put towards our other Wonderdogs in honour of Valour. We appreciate your continued support and sensitivity through this heartbreaking news.
