It infuriates me when I hear people say kill the sharks or ridicule the victim. It isnt stupid to swim in the ocean where sharks are occasionally spotted. Living life as safely as possible is a dull standard that not everybody is interested in conforming to. Nor is it reasonable since people making such judgments often do things more dangerous all the time without even realizing it. However animals should not suffer because humans are entering their environment. A human isnt entitled over all animals to swim in the ocean without risk to themselves. If sharks appear in swimming pools, sure. If you acknowledge you are taking a risk when you enter very wild habitat and it should not lead to utilitarian conclusions or retribution against the animal if you are preyed upon by another species, that should be sufficient to absolve you from fair criticism. That being said, governments probably shouldnt let people swim in areas where shark attacks occur too frequently. This for example became a popular beach when they built resorts back in the early 90s and is near an area tiger and bull sharks frequent. Since then the number of attacks in the total area have been close to 50 and most people are not aware that many shark attacks occur close to land or even in shallow water.
